Launched in 2014 by Parisian-born fashion designer Ahlem Manai-Platt, our newest collection to join the PEEP family is exquisite in design. Born out of a background in fashion and a lost pair of beloved vintage sunglasses, AHLEM is a fusion of handmade details and sustainable production.
Inspired heavily by the early 20th century Bauhaus movement, each frame is hand etched with a signature design via three specialized ateliers. The metal pieces from this collection are made of palladium, a precious metal, that is electroplated in 22karat gold in various tones from rose gold, to champagne, white and antique. Even the titanium nose-pads and stainless steel temple cores are hand-engraved – no detail or part is too small when it comes to her designs.
With a strong focus on sustainable processes, frame are made exclusively in France and incorporate vintage Mazzuccheli acetates into the designs. In her own words, “we should never have to compromise ethics for elegance”. Each year, AHLEM plans to close the loop by releasing an annual limited edition “REFRAMED” collection produced entirely from recycled acetates and reused metals, with proceeds going to the No Kids Hungry Organisation.
