Ahlem Glasses
Launched in 2014 by Parisian-born fashion designer Ahlem Manai-Platt, AHLEM is a fusion of handmade details and sustainable production. Born out of a background in fashion and a lost pair of beloved vintage sunglasses, the designer is inspired heavily by the early 20th century Bauhaus movement.
The metal pieces from this label are made of palladium, a precious metal, that is electroplated in 22karat gold in various tones from rose gold, to champagne, white and antique. Even the titanium nose-pads and stainless steel temple cores are hand-engraved. No detail or part is too small when it comes to her designs and each piece takes on a jewellery-like form.
With a strong focus on sustainable processes, Ahlem glasses frames are made exclusively in France working with a small number of specialised ateliers. In her own words “we should never have to compromise ethics for elegance”. Ahlem’s organic shapes and elegant geometries exist in the belief that objects of timeless design and superior quality are always relevant.
